Oh hey there Internet! It’s been a while. Hope you’re doing well.
You might have noticed that there has been a significant drop in the number of new posts the past couple months. All I’m going to say is that real life has a nasty way of stopping things from happening. But unlike when I have lots ideas for posts but no time to write, I’ve been so preoccupied with other stuff that there hasn’t been anything I’ve felt particularly compelled to talk about. What’s worse is that I don’t see an end to that sense of apathy happening, since there’s more stuff in the months to come that are going to be keeping me very busy.
That’s not to say there won’t be any other posts this month, however. After all, I’ve been playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the past week and oh boy, do I have things to say about that (sneak peak: it’s magnificent). Plus, since I’ve been playing Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch I’ve got some thoughts on Nintendo’s latest foray into the console market, especially when you compare it to the great and terrible Wii U.
But Zelda isn’t the only game that I’ll be playing this month. Nier: Automata is now out and has gotten some great reviews. I loved the demo, and it was one of the titles that I was looking forward to playing this year. But perhaps what I’ve been getting super excited (and nervous) about is Mass Effect: Andromeda finally coming out on the 21st. I love the original Mass Effect trilogy, and all the hype around Andromeda has made me all Nostalgic for those games. I have this crazy idea of playing at least one of them before Andromeda is released, but considering how addicted I am to Breath of the Wild right now I think it would be unrealistic of me to even start a new game, let alone finish it before the 21st. But I will say that my fondness for Mass Effect and usual apprehension of new entries in beloved franchises does make me want to write another “I’m excited for this but…” piece. So maybe you’ll see that too.
With a plethora of games to catch up and real life taking the priority in most circumstances, it might be a while before we get weekly posts again on Bits by Brereton. But I’m hoping that by June (when I’m off to E3) I’ll have my affairs in order for posts. Hope you’ll stick around in the meantime.
Now if you excuse me, I have to go save Hyrule again.
